Dr. WeiChin Chen is currently a North Shore resident on Oahu, and started his education at University of Florida.  He obtained his Bachelor of Health Science and also Zoology at the University of Florida.  He moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for his Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) at Wake Forest University.  Both his internship and orthopedic residency were done at United States Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii.  He practiced at Tripler Army Medical Center for four years taking care of active duty members, dependents, veterans, and also civilians. He currently practices as a general orthopedic surgeon, with emphasis on sports medicine, trauma, hand, and also foot and ankle issues.

He has deployed to Jalabad, Afghanistan; taking care of CIA, special forces, and Tri-service members.  He knows the military bureaucracy.  In addition, he is the future President (2017) of the Hawaii Orthopedic Association; an association that helps local Hawaiian orthopedic surgeons.  He was elected Resident Teacher of the Year in 2015, and continues to be involved in academic medicine.  Being a North Shore resident, he is an avid big wave surfer.
