Dr. Trent Tamate was born and raised in Hawai’i, graduating as a proud Trojan from
Mililani High School. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Hawai’i
at Mānoa, followed by his medical degree from the John A. Burns School of Medicine.
After completing his residency training in Orthopaedic Surgery here in Hawai’i, he
gained further expertise as a Sports Medicine Fellow at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New
York City, where he also served as an assistant team physician for the New York Jets.
Dr. Tamate specializes in the care of athletes of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re
a 5-star recruit or a pickleball beginner, his focus is on returning you to the lifestyle you
enjoy. His skillset includes minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery, as well as joint
replacements for arthritis of the shoulder and knee. In addition, he treats fractures of
both the upper and lower extremities, providing emergency trauma coverage at the
Queen’s Medical Center West, Kuakini Medical Center, Castle Medical Center, and
North Hawai’i Community Hospital.
Beyond his medical practice, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, working
out, and upholding his prestigious position as a Fantasy Football league commissioner.
