Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet-rich plasma consists of 2 elements, plasma which is the liquid component of blood, and platelets, a component that plays an important role in healing throughout the body. Although platelets are best known for their clotting factors, they also contain a growth factor that triggers cell reproduction and stimulates tissue regeneration and healing.
A small amount of blood is taken, then spun in a centrifuge. The centrifuge separates the blood components and concentrates the platelets within the plasma. This is then injected into the area of injury.
